In New York, individuals and small businesses can shop for, compare and enroll in health insurance coverage under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) through NY State of Health, The Official Health Plan Marketplace. You will be able to apply and enroll for public health insurance (Medicaid and Child Health Plus) and compare and shop for affordable private health insurance options (Qualified Health Plans).
Single Stop is partnering with community-based organizations across the five boroughs of New York City to assist you with your health insurance application through New York’s Health Exchange (New York State of Health), also known as the Marketplace.
For Individuals, Families, and Small Business Owners, applying through the Marketplace, enrollment support is available in-person, in your community through our Navigators and Certified Application Counselors, and over the phone through the Marketplace Call Center.
Renewing your coverage is important! If you are enrolled in a private plan (QHP) through New York State of Health (NYSOH), you will need to renew your coverage annually during Open Enrollment (November 1– January 31). If you are enrolled in Medicaid, Child Health Plus, or the Essential Plan later in the year, you will receive a renewal notice 90 days before your plan year ends. Make sure to follow up to not lose your coverage! Additionally, remember to report and update any changes in your household size or income throughout the year.
The Small Business Marketplace is where small businesses can shop for their employees in health insurance coverage. Small businesses may qualify for an employer health care tax credit if they have fewer than 25 full-time equivalent employees making an average annual income of less than $50,000.
